Schedule for Youth

Opening Day (Thu, Apr 27)

2:00-4:30 Rehearsal at the Performing Arts Center for North Salem, Pendleton, and Newport Youth Symphony.

6:00-7:00 Dinner at the Performing Arts Center for all schools.

7:30-9:30 Public concert at the Performing Arts Center featuring North Salem, Pendleton, and Newport Youth Symphony.

 

Clinic Day (Fri, Apr 28)

Each school orchestra will have 60-90 minutes of active clinic time with each of our professional conductors: once in the morning at the first location with the first conductor, and then again in the afternoon at the second location with the second conductor. When not on stage, young musicians are encouraged to watch and listen from the audience so as to learn from the other clinics. (School orchestras may also step aside and warm up as needed before their own clinic times.)

At Newport Middle School with Dan Allcott:
8:00 West Linn
9:30 North Salem
11:00 Newport Youth Symphony

Lunch

For all schools at Newport Middle School (approx. 11:30-1:30).

Afternoon

At the Performing Arts Center with Adam Flatt:
1:00 West Linn
2:30 North Salem
4:00 Newport Youth Symphony

At Newport Middle School with Dan Allcott:
1:00 Pendleton
2:30 North Medford
4:00 McKay

Dinner

For all schools at Newport Middle School (approx. 5:30-6:30), followed by evening free time.

 

Performance Day (Sat, Apr 29)

9:30-11:30 Public concert at the Performing Arts Center featuring North Medford, West Linn, and McKay.

11:30-1:00 Lunch at Newport Middle School.

1:00-3:00 Rehearsal at Newport Middle School for all schools combined.

3:00-6:00 Free time for all schools.

6:00-7:00 Dinner at Newport Middle School.

7:30-9:30 Public concert at the Performing Arts Center featuring all school orchestras combined and a special performance by the University of Oregon Symphony Orchestra.

 

Aquarium Day (Sun, Apr 30)

10:00-11:00 Tour the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

11:00-1:00 Performances at assigned sites throughout the aquarium.
