Our Conductors

Adam Flatt


Adam Flatt is a conductor who enjoys a busy and versatile musical presence in three different regions of the USA. He serves as Music Director of the Newport (Oregon) Symphony Orchestra, the Tuscaloosa (Alabama) Symphony Orchestra, and the Colorado Ballet.

Adam is also highly regarded for his inspiring work with young music students at the highest level. He teaches on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music’s Summerfest and the Rocky Ridge Music Center, both in Colorado. He previously held positions with two of America’s most prominent youth orchestras, the Portland (Oregon) Youth Philharmonic and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. He also recently enjoyed a residency with the Landes-Jugend-Sinfonie-Orchester Saar in Germany.

Blake Richardson

Dr. Blake Richardson

Blake Richardson is Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Alabama and Music Director of the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra. Among his work with youth, Blake helped lead Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the USA on tour in Europe alongside Valery Gergiev and Joshua Bell.

Originally trained on violin, piano and percussion, Blake received a Fulbright Scholarship and studied under acclaimed conductor Lorin Maazel. He holds graduate degrees in conducting from Indiana University and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
